Pros and Cons of Working From Home

To be perfectly honest, some of these advantages get old in no time. You don’t have to deal with traffic and bad weather, but you get lonely without colleagues to keep you company. Your time is your own, but more often than not, you’ll find yourself distracted by amazingly diverse issues.

You’ll be hungry, and your fridge is just a few paces away. You’ll get a sudden urge to brush your teeth. And, well, seeing that your focus is a bit off today, you might just take a short nap and do the work a tiny bit later.

You don’t have to take days off work to travel. Still, when you take your work with you on holiday, doesn’t it seem like an awful waste to spend half a day locked up in your hotel room?

A clever solution to all the problems associated with working from home is a coworking space. It allows you to go out when you feel a bit restless. When you get stuck, a change of environment might be enough to get your productivity back on track. Coworking spaces are often organized and decorated to boost mood and motivation, which is an additional plus.

And most importantly, they keep you from being cooped up in your room on vacation.

The-Hive

The Hive is situated only 5 minutes by car from Thonglor BTS station, and it’s probably one of the largest and fanciest coworking spaces you’ll see. It occupies five floors, and we loved that the rooftop has a lounge cafe. The environment is beautiful and cozy, with plenty of sunlight and gentle color schemes, so it’s a great place to work.

Coworking Spaces on Sukhumvit Road

If you’re staying somewhere in the Sukhumvit Road area, you’re probably enjoying the nightlife. You may not be sure where to go to get some work done, though. Some of the best coworking spaces Bangkok has to offer are in this area. Here are the most important ones.

UnionSPACE

Prepare to be amazed: this coworking space features a coliving capsule for that much-needed nap during a 12-hour workday. We totally loved that, but if that isn’t enough to convince you, there’s more.

It also sells all-day snacks and drinks with its in-house barista, who’s always around when you need a drink or two. If you’re all work and no play, there are a variety of workspace facilities to help you. This includes shared and dedicated desks, scanning and printing equipment, and a receptionist and community manager available daily.

There were two more things we really liked, the silent booth and photo studio. The silent booth is perfect when you need to work in complete silence. The photo studio is professional enough for content creators or brands to use for all photography and videography needs.

Outside of the Ekkamai location, UnionSPACE has seven other locations across Bangkok, with many more coming soon. Closed on Sundays, it’s open from 8:30 am to 6:30 pm on weekdays, and 9 am to 6 pm on Saturdays.

A shared working space daily work pass costs 250 THB ($7), a monthly membership is 4000 THB ($113), and a dedicated desk costs 4500 THB ($127) per month.

E88

E88

E88 is located in—you’ve guessed it—the E88 Building. They offer printing equipment, personal lockers, and free coffee and drinking water. We liked the location of the coworking space because the building has a large parking lot, and there are restaurants nearby for when you start feeling peckish.

The coworking space also features meeting rooms complete with projectors and a glass board. If you want a bigger space for more people, there’s an amazing event space on offer.

The interior is interesting, with a few pops of color here and there and little plants scattered around on shelves. There is plenty of space, and the lighting is excellent.

Here, you can pay 150 THB ($5) for two hours or 300 THB ($10) per day. They are open every day from 9 am to 10 pm.

Cluster

Cluster is situated in SSP Tower in Ekkamai. They provide an extremely pleasant environment, 24-hour security, printing equipment, and a comfy chill-out area.

Apart from its coworking space, we loved the fact that there is a library and free coffee and tea from when you need to unplug from work.

Opening hours are every day from 9 am to 6 pm, and the monthly membership will cost you 2,500 THB ($70).

On the right side of the Chao Phraya River, Poolsub Space boasts a super convenient location for anybody staying in the Riverside area. They work Monday through Saturday, from 8 am to 7 pm, but are closed on Sundays. The prices start at 750 THB ($14) per day, and perhaps our favorite thing about the space is that it’s pet-friendly.

When you get tired of all the hard work, there are options to pick from. They offer:

  • Free snacks
  • Free tea and coffee
  • An outdoor terrace and a chill-out area

Everyone needs a break from time to time, right?

The Great Room is an international coworking space with two locations in Bangkok. The best of the two is the one at the Gaysorn Tower, nestled in the city center. This prime location means it’s easily accessible by public transport and has 360-degree city views.

Able to accommodate 300 professionals, you can choose from a dedicated office space for your team or a solo hot desk. There are also several meeting rooms for when you need to make presentations.

We loved the Monday Breakfast Club, which is more than just coffee and pastries as it can help grow your network. From time to time, you’ll find The Great Room hosting social and professional events.

The coworking space in Bangkok is open Monday to Friday from 9 am to 6 pm Membership plans start from 8,000 THB per month ($225), while the day pass will cost you 950 THB ($27).

Glowfish

Glowfish

Glowfish is one of Bangkok’s older coworking spaces.  It has two incredible locations in Asoke and Sathorn. Whichever one you choose, you can expect a fantastic work-life balance as they “bring your lifestyle closer to you.

So, what can you expect? A fully-furnished private office with plenty of natural light or a personal desk with complimentary coffee and tea, with both featuring call booths. Glowfish is ideal for startups, as you can go from one desk to a team office, come together in the meeting room, and then launch in the conference hall.

Outside of work, you have lifestyle amenities that include a gym, a fitness studio, and a dining hall with diverse cuisine. Just beware, though, that these are only available at the Sathorn branch.

Want to know what our favorite thing about Glowfish is? It is open 24/7, but the staff is only available between 8:30 am and 5:30 pm. Their hot desks are available for 12,000 THB ($338) per month. The private offices are available at the same price but must be rented out for at least three months.

Common Ground is an award-winning Bangkok coworking space, so you already know it’s incredible. Their G Tower location is their flagship venue, offering 1,000 seats and amazing city skyline views.

The seats are spread across hot desks, fixed desks, private offices, and meeting rooms. Remote workers and freelancers also have the opportunity to purchase a day pass when they need a quiet space for the day.

Apart from their workspace, we also liked their additional amenities. These include complimentary coffee and tea, administrative support services, printers, an in-house cafe, and event spaces.

Common Ground G Tower is open Monday to Friday from 9 am to 6 pm, and seats cost from 3,000 THB ($84) per month.

Maven Mesh

Maven Mesh

Last, but not least is Maven Mesh. This Bangkok shared workspace was formed with young entrepreneurs, start-ups, and social enterprises in mind, with these groups offering special rates.

Even if you aren’t one of those three, you’ll still be able to take advantage of their services. This includes an open coworking space with shared desks, private offices, and meeting rooms.

In addition, you’ll get a free beverage and snack, but you can also purchase goodies from their cafe. When you need a break, get out onto the airy outdoor space, which might have been our favorite thing here.

Maven Mesh is open daily between 9 am and 6 pm. A shared desk will cost 300 THB ($8) daily, and a private room will cost 600 THB ($16) daily.
