9 Awesome Coworking Spaces in Chiang Mai for Remote Workers (2024)

Isn’t finding a coworking space you like a terrible drag? You know the drill — you Google it, find some reviews, think it’s all good and well, and then you get there, find your spot… And the toilet smell reaches you. Not only does it smell, but it hits that not-so-sweet spot of smelling just enough to irritate you but not enough for you to pack up your bag and remove yourself from that place forever.

You know that you should leave a warning on Google for all other poor, unfortunate souls who might commit the same dreadful mistake as you, but by that point, you’ve already resigned to your fate. You’ll go on working, deeply aware that your ability to focus has suffered a blow from which it won’t recover until you find a new place to work.

Tip: Traveling to Thailand? Check out our guide to the best places to live to find your next digital nomad home.

To avoid such scenarios, you need to do your research before you start your trip. That way, you can make sure that the chances for nasty surprises are minimal. You can find accommodation and coworking spaces that are close to each other, which makes everything much more convenient. It takes some time and effort, though, so we’ve gone through the trouble of sorting out the info.

Where can you cowork in peace in Chiang Mai? Basically everywhere. Chiang Mai is incredibly nomad-friendly, and there are many places to work, which makes it one of the best places to live in Thailand for digital nomads. Most of them are pretty good, but here are our favorites.

M-A-N-A Is Our Favorite Coworking Space in Chiang Mai

Source: manacoworking

M-A-N-A is our fav coworking space in Chiang Mai. At the price of 120 THB a day without and 150 THB a day with coffee, it’s easily one of the most affordable options. There are no monthly passes, but if you don’t intend to work full-time, you can pay by the hour instead of by day. Don’t assume that the fairly low price is indicative of low-quality service, though — it isn’t.

Wi-Fi is fast and reliable. You get one coffee if you pay 150 THB, but you can always get more, and it’s delicious. Snacks are also available for purchase in case you get peckish. Should you get too immersed in your work and forget to grab a bite, it’s okay — there are plenty of restaurants, bars, and other food options conveniently close to the location. Tea and water are free, though, and the staff tops you up every half an hour or so throughout the day.

When it comes to the space itself, it’s on the smaller side. It tends to fill out in the afternoon, so make sure you arrive early enough to grab a spot. They provide comfortable chairs, and there are Skype and meeting rooms for an additional fee.

Maybe because of the small size and the limited number of people, M-A-N-A is possibly the quietest place we’ve visited. The owners are helpful and friendly, and if you’re lucky, you may even meet this bad boy. He stops by from time to time to greet the cat people among the nomads.

If you don’t like M-A-N-A, it’s not convenient for you, or you just don’t feel like getting up earlier to secure a spot there, there are other options.

Here are eight other great coworking spaces in Chiang Mai.

  4. Punspace Wiang Kaew
  5. StarWork

Hub 53

If you’d like to meet new people and make friends, look no further than Hub53. It is a co-living and coworking space, which makes it twice as convenient. It is located at 53 Chonprathan Road, within walking distance from CMU Main Stadium.

They offer comfortable chairs, standing desks, and free coffee, tea, and cookies. There is a kitchen area on the second floor and a salad and smoothie bar on the premises. You can order your salads to your desk, which makes everything much easier and more time-effective.

There are a few Skype rooms, meeting rooms with whiteboards, private lockers, and even a nap room with a comfy couch and a massage chair!

They organize weekly events for people who are co-living there, so that might be fun.

There are some downsides to Hub53, though. The internet tends to get quite slow when the place is relatively full. Depending on your work, this could make your life more complicated than it needs to be.

They will ask you to take off your shoes, too. If you don’t have the habit, it might be a bit weird for you. Still, it’s their way, and when in Rome…

Punspace

PunSpace can be found in three locations:

  1. Nimman
  2. Tha Phae Gate
  3. Wiang Kaew.

These three locations share several characteristics, among which are the open hours and the price. All three boast reasonably fast internet, and they all have AC. There is free coffee, tea, water, and cookies. They offer standing desks and ergonomic chairs, so these coworking spaces are remarkably comfortable.

Now, onto the specific characteristics of each.

Nimman

Aside from the general benefits of all Punspace locations, Nimman also provides printing equipment, as well as access to the kitchen and a Skype room. Monthly passes for Punspace are a great deal, but if you take a monthly pass for Nimman, you can use it for Tha Phae Gate. You’d be getting two spaces at the price of one, which is always great.

The space itself is quite cozy and, well, pretty. It’s full of light and really boosts your motivation.

There’s one possible downside, though — it attracts a lot of bromads. That means that the atmosphere is much more chill and much less conducive to hard work. This can be great if you can afford to relax while you work, but it can also be detrimental to your productivity.

Tha Phae Gate

If you like plenty of natural light and high ceilings, this is where you want to be. There are three Skype rooms, and the internet is more stable than in Nimman. The atmosphere is more serious, so fewer people play video games.

Like with Nimman, if you buy a monthly pass for Tha Phae Gate, you can use it to access both locations.

Wiang Kaew

Wiang-Dew

This location differs from the other two in several aspects:

  • You can’t get a day pass. You need to buy a weekly or monthly one.
  • A monthly pass cannot be used to access the other two locations.
  • They host TEDx events.
  • You can purchase alcohol here, as there is an onsite café.

Aside from these differences, there is a big fat plus point which makes this Punspace our favorite Punspace — the garden. Wiang Kaew boasts easily the most delightful garden of any coworking space we’ve seen so far. If you enjoy working outside, this is absolutely the place for you. They even have a hammock!
